Oh Hey There.
What’s Up! I’m Kate and I'm not just your typical wedding photographer: I'm a badass seasoned travel photo-journalist who's worked with brands like Sony and Matador Travel Network who’s now all about capturing epic elopements and intimate Vancouver Island weddings. When my cameras are off I'm into local hazy pale ales, laughing til our sides hurt, dusky campfires, and coffee that could wake the dead. I have been around the world and back (a few times!) telling stories for tourism boards, travel magazines, NGOs, and adventurous couples across the globe, but Vancouver Island has my whole heart. For my style, think real-life with analog film vibes but not a trend, earthy but true-to-color, editorial and cool but super laid-back. Let’s hit the woods or the beach and make being in front of my lens one of the best parts of your day. Yeah?
I am deeply fortunate to live and work on Lekwungen territory, and am forever grateful to the Esquimalt and Songhees nations, the Indigenous peoples who whom this land belongs. I strive to work towards reconciliation, truth, and understanding by listening to indigenous speakers and leaders, participating in local indigenous events, marches, and protests, supporting local indigenous artists, and donating to local indigenous organizations.

Vision & Values
While you can probably tell I am a really laid-back, easy-going person, I am also an Ennegram 8w7 (“The Maverick”) and standing up and being loud about what’s right is in my bones. My values as a wedding photographer (and as a travel photographer, person, parent, former bride, and human) matter a lot to me - and I’m not quiet about it. Here are just a few of the things I hold close as a wedding photographer:
Keep it Real: I aim to draw out the real you, and not just an enslaught of perfect poses.
Make it Easy: I want you also look as good as you feel. I genuinely know many of us are weary of getting photographed. I will guide you, prompt you, and encourage you all the way through. Come all ye Awkward, I got you.
Wholly Inclusive: Everyone is worthy of stepping in front of the lens. All love. All bodies. All cultures. All Religions (or None). All orientations, all abilities, all backstories, all neuro-wirings. Big or small, awkward or cool, traditional or off-beat, typical or diverse, straight or gay or non-binary, trans or cis, neurodiverse or typical. I am a wholly inclusive wedding photographer. Everyone is welcome with me. No exceptions.
Respect the Earth: Stay on the path, Leave No Trace, obey the seasonal laws; I won’t destroy nature for an Instagram. I respect the land we are on, as well as its history and its future, and have deepest respect to the First Nations’ to whom the land belongs.
Respect the Day: Your wedding or elopement is one of the most important days of your life - not a model shoot. I aim to help you navigate a balance of achieving epic and meaningful photos without missing out on your party, people, or the experience.
Give a Shit: I care about this place. A lot. I support 5 local non-profits on the island: SurfRider, Victoria Native Friendship Center, Cool Aid, Ancient Forest Alliance,

“Kate was 100% the best photographer I’ve ever worked with. Kate blew them all out of the water with her personable nature, the quality of her photos, and her willingness to go above and beyond. When she’s with you she is 100% focused on you. She wasn’t rushing through or hurrying us along. For our Elopement, she took the time to research the best light, investigate the space, and work with us on our timeline. Kate had a professional and positive attitude about her - she was smiling through in a downpour, completely soaked but never complained. And instead of looking like drowned rats, we look like we are in a fairytale.
This is the photographer you want on your wedding or elopement day— trust me.”
