Wedding + Elopement Photography for Victoria, BC and Vancouver Island

For rad + relaxed couples who desire a down-to-earth approach, a genuine experience, real connections, and an emphasis on sense of place + atmosphere - because Vancouver Island is part of your story, too. Making epic moments feel natural, and everyday moments feel epic.

Oh Hey There.

What’s Up! I’m Kate and I'm not just your typical wedding photographer: I'm a badass seasoned travel photo-journalist who's worked with brands like Sony and Matador Travel Network who’s now all about capturing epic elopements and intimate westcoast weddings. When my cameras are off I'm into local hazy pale ales, laughing til our sides hurt, dusky campfires, and coffee that could wake the dead. I have been around the world and back (a few times!) telling stories for tourism boards, travel magazines, NGOs, and adventurous couples across the globe, but Vancouver Island has my whole heart. My style? Think real analog film vibes but not a trend, earthy but true to color, editorial and cool but super laid-back. Let’s hit the woods and make being in front of my lens one of the best parts of your day. Yeah?

I am deeply fortunate to live and work on Lekwungen territory, and am forever grateful to the Esquimalt and Songhees nations, the Indigenous peoples who whom this land belongs. I strive to work towards reconciliation, truth, and understanding by listening to indigenous speakers and leaders, participating in local indigenous events, marches, and protests, supporting local indigenous artists, and donating to local indigenous organizations.

Vision & Values

While you can probably tell I am a really laid-back, easy-going person, I am also a classic Ennegram 8 and standing up and being loud about what’s right is in my bones. My values as a photographer (and person, and mama, and human) matter a lot to me - and I’m not quiet about it.

Be Real: I aim to draw out the real you, and not just an enslaught of perfect poses.

Be a Guide: I want you also look as good as you feel. I know many of us are weary of getting photographed. I’ve crafted a hybrid approach so that the end result is you look your best without sacrificing authenticity.

Be Inclusive: I welcome all. I believe everyone is worthy of stepping in front of the lens. All love is valid. Love wins.

Do Better: Not only Leave No Trace methods, but leave it better. And not just the location we use; I aim to leave the communities I work in better than I found them. I support 5 local non-profits on the island such as SurfRider and Victoria Native Friendship Center.

“Kate was 100% the best photographer I’ve ever worked with. Kate blew them all out of the water with her personable nature, the quality of her photos, and her willingness to go above and beyond. When she’s with you she is 100% focused on you. She wasn’t rushing through or hurrying us along. For our Elopement, she took the time to research the best light, investigate the space, and work with us on our timeline. Kate had a professional and positive attitude about her - she was smiling through in a downpour, completely soaked but never complained. And instead of looking like drowned rats, we look like we are in a fairytale. This is the photographer you want on your wedding or elopement day— trust me.”
